WCEF ANNOUNCES THURSDAY NIGHT OUT! and SATURDAY SHOPPER Dine Out and Shop to Support Walnut Creek Schools (Walnut Creek, Calif., April 15, 2009) –Want to justify getting out of the kitchen one night a week or making that Saturday shopping trip more worthwhile? The Walnut Creek Education Foundation’s (WCEF) Thursday Night Out! and Saturday Shopper! programs provides the perfect solution. Gather family and friends and make Thursday night a dining tradition or include a stop into a retail shop on Saturdays to support our kids by helping WCEF raise funds to maintain important academic programs and student support services for the five elementary schools (Buena Vista, Indian Valley, Murwood, Parkmead, Walnut Heights) and Walnut Creek Intermediate School in the Walnut Creek School District and at Las Lomas High School, Simply mention that you support WCEF or schools in the Walnut Creek School District or Las Lomas High School to a Thursday Night Out! participating restaurant or a Saturday Shopper! retail store, and a percentage of your bill will be donated to WCEF. “We are extremely fortunate that our participating restaurants and retailers believe in our cause and our schools. In addition, it’s a perfect opportunity for Walnut Creek families to support our local businesses, too. Just look for the Thursday Night Out! and Saturday Shopper! signs in participating business’ windows,” said Daniel Jones, WCEF volunteer coordinator for both programs. WCEF is managed by volunteers who are active supporters of the schools, and includes a board of directors made up of an executive committee, trustees and advisory members. The Foundation has two paid, part-time staff members – an executive director and data manager. For more information, contact WCEF at (925) 933.WCEF (9233) or go to www.wcefk12.org
